Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Gratifying Care is proud to committed to offer the best possible answers to all your questions. We have compiled a list of few questions that have been repeatedly asked to us.
What's the difference between arranging transport and accompanying me?
Transport arrangement means we book the vehicle/driver for you. Accompanying means a support worker travels with you. Many clients use both services together-we arrange the transport AND provide someone to accompany you.
How far in advance should transport be arranged?
Community transport often requires several days’ notice (sometimes 1-2 weeks for popular times). Accessible taxis can often be booked day-before. We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for regular appointments.
What if the transport doesn't arrive?
We monitor your bookings and follow up if transport is late. We’ll contact the provider, arrange alternative transport if needed, inform the appointment destination of delays. We ensure you’re not left waiting without support.
Can you arrange transport for social activities, not just medical appointments?
Yes! Transport for social clubs, community activities, visiting friends, shopping trips, religious services-anything that keeps you connected to community. Availability and funding may vary by purpose.
Do I pay the transport provider directly?
Usually yes-you pay the driver or service directly, often using your subsidy card (MPTP, DVA). We help you understand costs beforehand. Some transport may be covered by your Home Care Package or NDIS plan.
What if I use a wheelchair?
We arrange wheelchair-accessible vehicles. These require advance booking as availability is limited. We ensure the vehicle can accommodate your specific wheelchair or mobility scooter.
Can you arrange transport for my spouse too?
Yes, we can arrange transport for you and your spouse together. Some transport services charge per person; others charge per trip. We find the most cost-effective option.
What information do you need to arrange transport?
We need: pickup address, destination address, date and time needed, any mobility requirements (wheelchair, walker, oxygen), estimated duration at destination (so we can book return transport), any special needs or preferences.
What if I need to cancel arranged transport?
Contact us as soon as possible. We’ll contact the transport provider to cancel. Most services require 24 hours’ notice to avoid cancellation fees. We help manage this for you.
How much does transport arrangement cost?
Our service coordinating the transport depends on your funding: Support at Home Program: Covered. Home Care Packages: Included in your package. NDIS: May be covered under Support Coordination. DVA: Covered for eligible veterans. Private: Small fee for booking coordination. The actual transport cost (taxi, community transport, etc.) is separate and paid to the transport provider.
