Shower Assistance:
Preparing bathroom safely, assisting with undressing/dressing, supporting safe shower entry/exit, washing assistance as needed, ensuring thorough rinsing, drying assistance, maintaining dignity and privacy.
Bath Assistance:
Bath preparation and temperature checking, safe transfer into/out of bath, bathing assistance, hair washing in bath, ensuring safety throughout, thorough drying.
Hair Care:
Hair washing and conditioning, drying hair, basic styling or brushing, scalp care, coordinating professional hairdressing if desired.
Shaving:
Assisting with or providing safe shaving, facial hair grooming, maintaining preferred appearance, using electric or manual razors safely.
Nail Care:
Basic nail trimming (fingernails), filing and cleaning nails, moisturizing hands, coordinating podiatry for toenails if needed.
Skin Care:
Moisturizing dry skin, applying prescribed creams, checking skin condition, working to prevent pressure areas, maintaining skin health.
Grooming:
Assisting with makeup if desired, basic facial care, maintaining personal appearance, supporting self-esteem.

What to Expect from Bathing and Grooming Support
First Visit:

Can I have same-gender support?
Yes, we coordinate same-gender support workers for bathing assistance wherever possible.
What if I’m embarrassed?
Most people feel this way initially. Our support workers are professional, sensitive, and respectful. Many clients tell us they quickly became comfortable.
Can I do some bathing myself?
Absolutely! We support your independence. Many people wash some areas themselves and need assistance with others. We provide help only where needed.
What if I fall during bathing?
We work to prevent falls through safety measures. If a fall occurs, we’re trained in emergency response and will call for help immediately.
Can family stay during bathing?
Yes, if you’re comfortable with that. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
Do you help with hair washing?
Yes, hair washing is included in bathing assistance. We can wash, condition, and help dry your hair.
What about nail trimming?
We can trim fingernails. For toenails, especially if you have diabetes or circulation issues, we recommend professional podiatry which we can help arrange.
Can my spouse stay in the room during personal care?
Yes, if you’d like that and feel comfortable. Many couples prefer this. Whatever makes you most comfortable is fine with us.
How much does bathing assistance cost?
Depends on funding. Support at Home Program: Covered. Home Care Packages: Included. NDIS: Covered if approved. DVA: Covered for eligible veterans. Private: Hourly rate. Contact us for details.
